Young male with head and arm injuries evacuated from Glendalough, Co. Wicklow
On Sunday, 23-MAY-10, Wicklows Mountain Rescue teams were requested to assist the Eastern Regional Ambulance Services in extracting a young male who had sustained injuries to his head and arm following a fall in Glendalough.
The pre-teen from the South County Dublin had been enjoying the good weather along with his family when he slipped and fell from an embankment alongside what is known as the Green Road in Glendalough.
Cragfast pair rescued from Kevins Bed, Co. Wicklow
On Thursday, 20-MAY-10, Wicklows Mountain Rescue Teams were alerted by the Gardaí and asked to assist two Polish nationals who had become cragfast in the Kevins Bed area of Glendalough. The two men had managed to cross some particularly dangerous ground but eventually became stuck, unable to move any further and also unable to retreat from their predicament.
Launch of new OSi maps - your opportunity to be there?
Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi) are launching their new version of the Discovery Series Maps and they have made 10 places available to MR members/MR Supporters to be there seeing Mountain Rescue Ireland was involved in the consultation process.

Man goes missing in Glendalough during build up to Wicklow Outdoors Festival
The Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team and the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team were both called out to Glendalough on Friday 16th April at 5.30pm. After a searching the paths and tracks, they were quickly able to locate the 51-year old man who had lost contact with his wife 3 hours previously.
The lady, initially quite distressed, was very relieved to be re-united with her uninjured husband, and to return to enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Busy week for Mourne MRT
The volunteer Mourne Mountain Rescue Team has had a very busy Easter week with the excellent weather attracting large numbers of walkers and climbers to the Mournes.
On Easter Sunday [ 05-APR-10 ] (as previously reported), a gentleman slipped while descending Slieve Donard sustaining a lower leg fracture. With assistance from the team he was airlifted by Irish Coast Guard helicopter from the scene to Daisy Hill Hospital, Newry.
