North West Mountain Rescue Team Assist in Glenshane Pass Evacuation
The North West Mountain Rescue Team (NWMRT) assisted the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) in the evacuation of the Glenshane pass on Tuesday night.
Four young men trapped by swollen rivers in Glenmalure after heavy rain
At 10pm yesterday evening, the Garda Communications activated the Mountain Rescue pager system in Wicklow. Four young men had become trapped by swollen rivers high up at the head of Glenmalure valley.
Hill walker rescued on Comeragh mountains
At around 3pm today [27-MAR-10], the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA) were called out to deal with another incident on the Comeragh mountains in Co. Waterford. A member of a walking group had fallen and sustained a lower leg injury. The mountain rescue team issued a full team call out to all its members and within 20 minutes had a 4x4 and six members in the Nire valley. The team also called the MRCC "Marine Rescue Coordinating Centre" in Dublin and requested the assistance of the Coast Guard helicopter from Waterford.
Six rescued in two incidents on the mountains in the South East
Six people were rescued on the mountains of the south east of Ireland today [25-MAR-10]. The first incident took place at around 2.30pm on the Comeragh mountains, Co. Waterford where four people were air lifted by the S61 Coast Guard Helicopter from Waterford.The four had been out walking when one of the group fell and injured his leg. The helicopter was tasked to evacuate the injured walker, and the South Eastern mountain rescue team (SEMRA) were asked to go to the area and assist if needed. The injured walker was transferred to hospital in Waterford.
Dog survives 100 meter fall in Glendalough, Co. Wicklow
Wicklow's Mountain Rescue Teams responded this afternoon [ 21-MAR-10 ] to a rather unusual request for assistance from the Spink Mountain in Glendalough, Co. Wicklow.
Rescuers had been taking part in a technical rescue training exercise in Dalkey Quarry in South Dublin when the call for help came through from a young family after their dog fell a considerable distance on steep ground, leaving them gravely concerned for the animals welfare.
